Professional Dog Bathing in Columbus, Ohio

Designer Paws Salon’s Bath & Brush package goes far beyond a basic scrub. At our Upper Arlington and Westerville locations, every bath is a full spa experience — premium shampoos, a massaging hydro-bath, hand drying, and finishing touches that leave your dog clean, soft, and smelling incredible.

What’s Included in Every Bath

Every Bath & Brush appointment at Designer Paws Salon includes:

  • Two full washes — a deep-cleansing first bath followed by a color-enhancing or moisturizing second bath using breed-appropriate shampoos and conditioners.
  • Hypoallergenic face wash — gentle cleansing for the delicate eye and muzzle area.
  • Massaging hydro-bath — our hydro-massage system soothes your dog while working shampoo deep into the coat and skin.
  • Light conditioning — included with every bath, with a deep-conditioning upgrade available for dry or damaged coats.
  • Hand drying — no cage dryers. Every dog is toweled and hand-dried with care.
  • Ear cleaning — ears are checked and cleaned as part of every visit.
  • Nail trim or grind — your choice of a standard clip or a smoother Dremel grind.
  • Cologne and a seasonal bandana or bows — every dog goes home freshly fragranced and tied off with a bandana from our rotating seasonal collection. Always included, never an upcharge.

Bath Add-Ons and Spa Upgrades

Customize your dog’s bath with any of these add-ons. Your groomer will recommend only what your dog actually needs based on coat type, skin condition, and the issue at hand.

  • De-Shed Treatment — a specialty shampoo and conditioner pair plus extra blow-out time, designed to loosen and remove undercoat. The single most effective thing you can do to reduce shedding at home, especially during spring and fall coat blows. Recommended for double-coated breeds (Goldens, Huskies, Shepherds, Corgis, Australian Shepherds) every 6 to 8 weeks.
  • Flea & Tick Spa Treatment ($15) — pesticide-free flea bath using a yucca-based medicated shampoo. Details below.
  • Teeth brushing — for fresher breath and to help slow plaque buildup between dental cleanings.
  • Blueberry facial — a gentle, tearless facial scrub that brightens around the eyes and muzzle.
  • Express anal gland expression — external expression as part of the bath when needed.

Pesticide-Free Flea & Tick Spa Treatment

Most flea and tick shampoos sold in pet stores use pyrethrin or permethrin as the active ingredient. Those are EPA-registered pesticides — and while they work, they can irritate sensitive skin and are well-documented as dangerous to cats living in the same household. Cats can’t metabolize permethrin the way dogs can, and cross-contamination off a freshly bathed dog is a real risk. We chose not to use those products.

Our Flea & Tick Spa Treatment uses Quadruped’s yucca-based medicated flea and tick shampoo. The active is extract from the Mojave yucca plant, which contains steroidal saponins — natural plant compounds that act as a detergent and wash fleas off the coat mechanically. There’s no neurotoxic insecticide in the formula, no EPA pesticide registration on the bottle, and no harsh residue left on your dog’s skin. The result is a flea bath that’s gentler for puppies, senior dogs, dogs with sensitive skin, and homes with cats.

The Flea & Tick Spa Treatment is a $15 add-on to any bath or full groom. If you already know your dog has fleas or flea dirt, mention it when you book and we’ll have everything prepped. If we find flea dirt during your dog’s appointment, we’ll add the treatment and let you know at pickup so you can take next steps at home — washing bedding, treating the yard, talking to your vet about preventatives.

Why Regular Bathing Matters

Routine professional bathing does more than keep your dog smelling fresh. Regular baths remove trapped dirt, dander, and allergens from the coat and skin, helping to prevent hot spots, itchiness, and that familiar “dog smell” that builds up between washes. For most dogs, a bath every 4 to 6 weeks keeps their coat healthy. Dogs with skin conditions, allergies, or thick double coats often benefit from a more frequent schedule — we’ll help you find the right one.

All Breeds, All Sizes

From Chihuahuas to Great Danes, we bathe dogs of every breed and size up to 250 lbs at both locations. Whether your dog has a short smooth coat, a long silky coat, or a thick double coat that sheds everywhere, our groomers know which products and techniques work best. We also handle anxious or first-time dogs with patience — just let us know when you book.

Great experience. Our dog badly needed a nail trim/grind, and they were able to squeeze us in early on a Saturday without an appointment. The lobby is very welcoming and it was very evident to me that all of the staff enjoy where they work. Everyone was very pleasant and interacting with customers. Beyond that, they did a great job on the nail trim, and quickly at that. We will be back for future dog grooming services, glad to have this place in the neighborhood.

I had been looking for a place with experience grooming cats and gave fest his place a try. Wow! Extremely professional with setting up the appointment. Reminders and confirmations were received. Our cat is a Maine Coon so she's big with LOTS of fur. The groomer did a beautiful job and gave us information and tips afterward. We will definitely go back on a regular basis.

This place was AMAZING! I recently adopted a shelter dog about a month ago. It was finally time for her to get groomed and after much research, I decided on Designer Paws. Scheduling was very straightforward and the staff very helpful and friendly. My dog has separation anxiety and is very protective so I was worried about the handoff. The staff (former dog trainer) was well equipped to handle dog behavior and assured me my dog would be fine. I was so comforted and relieved by her expertise. I am SO happy with the results of this facility- my dog came back happy and smiling and was clearly comfortable around the staff members and facility. By far one of my best experiences in finding local dog-friendly businesses!!!

This is the ONLY place I trust to take my two pyrenees and know they are going to be done right. Every single time I take them I can't believe how much cleaner they are when we pick them up. Staff is awesome and always accommodating to my requests. Pyrenees take a lot of work and I appreciate them so much!
